Born to Run Farm: The Wedding of Arielle and Daniel - Glen Gardner, NJ

You know here at Inspire Me Imagery, we pride ourselves on being the {Alternative Wedding Photography Studio} and we have another unique wedding headed your way. Arielle and Daniel decided to have their wedding at Born to Run Farm.

From Born to Run Farm's website:

Jay and Joan Gerish purchased what is now "Born to Run Farm" in 1978 and used the property as a family getaway home and a space to train their race horses. The Gerish’s 4 children and 7 grandchildren continue to maintain the property as their parent’s/grandparent’s had always wanted, with love and family values.

As the Gerish family has grown, so has the farm’s resume. In addition to being a special occasion event space, the farm is also an animal sanctuary. The 130 acres is now home to almost 30 cows, 2 alpaca, a dozen sheep, 2 donkeys, chickens and many other barnyard friends. None of our animals are sent to market, and all will live full happy lives at Born to Run Farm.

The mountain-top property has also become a classroom for the students at New Beginnings, a school for special needs children in Fairfield, NJ. Several students are chosen per semester to do a work study program in which they learn farming skills and prepare for their annual pumpkin picking party hosted at, you guessed it, Born to Run Farm.

Our family has enjoyed the farm for the past couple decades and now want others to experience its beauty and healing properties. When you visit Born to Run Farm please take a moment to look out onto the sublime mountain-top view that once captivated our parent’s/grandparent’s so much that they decided not to leave.

How did you and your partner meet?

Surprisingly on the free dating website OKcupid. We weren’t planning for anything serious but we all know how that turned out.

When did you first know they were "the one?"

She knew when she felt comfortable to say or do anything around him. He made her feel confident and safe.

How did they propose?

He surprised me at home with candles and roses spread out all over our apartment. It was very romantic except our pets locked away in the bedroom we’re making quite a racket throughout the proposal. So it’s like they participated too?

What are you most looking forward to?

Finally seeing friends and family after having to delay the big day by a year. All the animals will be cool too!

Are you including any traditions / religious rights in your wedding?

We will incorporate Jewish traditions into the ceremony and will have a rabbi marry us

Describe your ceremony in three words:

Animals. Love.. Traditions

What is your ceremony music?

The exit music is “Concerning “Hobbits” from Lord of the Rings

How did you go about planning your ceremony?

We went over all the traditions with our rabbi and chose portions that resonated with us.

Who is your officiant? How did you choose them?

Rabbi Robyn Frisch. Recommended from a family member

Why did you choose the ceremony and reception locations?

Animals, nature, the view

How would you describe your reception theme?

Casual and intimate

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?

Our love of animals.

What were your vows like?

We didn't do public vows a the wedding, but had privately exchanged them before. Because they were shared privately, they had more of an emotional impact plus we were able to include many private jokes and references because the only audience was each other.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony?

Having our dogs walk down the aisle. The connection we felt with our officiant. We didn't know her before planning, but she took the time to really get to know us and we felt like there was a real connection by the time the ceremony occurred.

Were there specific blogs / websites / apps / resource materials you found useful during your planning process?

Offbeat bride and wedding subreddit

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

Food tasting

What was the worst part of the planning process?

Decision fatigue

Are there any DIY details you’d like to tell us about?

No real DIY, but the dogs outfits and the cat cocktails menus

Tell us about the cake!!

No cake, ice cream truck!

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding?

Focus on what's important to you and what your end goal is. We didn't want our wedding to be a stressful event so we planning we focused on the end goal of a fun but relaxed event surrounded by friends and family

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently?

Eat in the beginning of the day because almost no food was consumed once the wedding started

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception?

How can I pick, the emotional wallop of the toasts or really just having fun dancing with friends. From the bride, the highlight of any event with dancing is watching my mom groove!

What was your favorite moment from the day?

The day was such a complete blur, but being able to see so many close friends and family, hearing them have fun and the absolute stunning views of the farm.
