Califon, NJ: The Wedding of Colleen and Julian

LB

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at college orientation! Colleen’s best friend, Sandra, was put in the same orientation group as Julian and introduced us. We’ve been attached at the hip since.

When did you first know he / she was "the one?"

It’s hard to pinpoint a moment, but from very early on. We’ve always been so comfortable and had so much fun together.

How did he / she propose?

Julian proposed to Colleen on Christmas Eve morning, with the Maid of Honor (Sandra) and Best Man (Dale) there.

Why did you choose the ceremony and reception locations?

The ceremony was held at the church Colleen attended from childhood. Our reception was an easy decision; we knew right away we wanted an outdoor reception at Colleen’s parents. We got to customize everything and their land is too perfect!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony?

Seeing everyone we love and care about there! We also loved incorporating the Filipino traditions.

Are you including any traditions / religious rights in your wedding?

We included the Filipino traditions of the veil and chord and the arras. They signify unity and wealth for the newlyweds.

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding?

Take a step back and try to enjoy every minute of it. The day goes by fast and you will not remember any of the little hiccups/stressful moments after!

Are there any DIY details you’d like to tell us about?

A ton was DIY! Although we had so much help from vendors, Colleen put a lot of the details together.

What is the first dance song? Father/daughter or mother/son dance?

Our first dance was Can’t Help Falling In Love by Twenty One Pilots. The father daughter dance was Here Comes The Sun by SYML. The mother son dance was Love Like This by Ben Rector.

What was the best advice you were given?

It's your day! Everyone else is there to support and celebrate YOU.

What was your favorite moment from the day?

It's impossible to pick just one moment above the others.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception?

The unplanned cake fight that everyone jumped in on!
