How did you and your partner meet?

We met in college. We were taking a sophomore seminar math class. We didn't start dating for another year though.

When did you first know he / she was "the one?"

Of this time, James recalls falling for this smart, adorable girl quite easily. He shared, “I woke up one day and realized all I wanted was to be with her. We grew into it overtime and I was definitely in love with her for a while before I realized it.”

For Emily, there wasn’t one particular moment when she knew it was love, but a series of moments and memories, laughter and kindness that added up to the feeling that she wanted to always experience life with James by her side. She shared what she’s learned about love through her relationship with James, saying, “I realized that love changes and grows over time. We find new ways to love each other, and new versions of ourselves to love.”

How did he / she propose?

We spent a weekend in the Adirondacks, seeking an escape to appreciate nature at Emily's family cabin. But unbeknownst to Emily, when James had left for work the day before, instead of heading to the office, he drove 5 hours to the cabin. He spent about 20 minutes decorating it as a surprise but also knowing that he had to leave quickly to drive back so that Emily wouldn’t be suspicious.

When they set out the next day, driving five hours north again, Emily was expecting to spend another memorable weekend at the family cabin. However, when she opened the front door, she was met with a very unexpected scene. The cabin was decorated with ribbons and a banner. As Emily walked in she saw a banner that read “Will You Marry Me?“ and turned to find James, down on one knee, with a ring and a very important question.

What are you most looking forward to?

Emily is really looking forward to spending time with her whole family and friends. Having the most important people in your life show up for you, and spend this special moment together.

How did you go about planning your ceremony?

We actually planned 2 ceremonies. One in January (with John) and another in July (Lauren & Nick). It went pretty well because we hired everyone for both weddings.

Who is your officiant? How did you choose him/her?

Have Lover Will Travel (Liz Norment) was our officiant for both weddings. We just found her online and some quick searching.

Why did you choose the ceremony and reception locations?

We wanted a venue that had a hotel close by. We don't live near any of our relatives, so everyone needed a place to stay overnight. We really liked Mountain Creek had a resort close by and things to do throughout the day.

How would you describe your reception theme?

Our reception theme was natural and simple. We wanted to just use the natural surroundings, color schemes, etc... and incorporate them into our theme.
